Tree Removal in the Golden Triangle at Dutton, MT

Dutton is a town of about 300 people in Teton County, Montana, 36.4 road miles and about 39 minutes north of Great Falls on I-15, in the wheat and barley country called the Golden Triangle. It began as a Great Northern station named for general agent Charles E. Dutton and was incorporated in 1935.

Open grassland at about 3,700 feet means planted trees: green ash, boxelder and Siberian elm on the streets and by the elevator, blue spruce north of the houses, caragana and Russian olive shelterbelts on every farmstead. Nothing slows the wind, and a fifty-year-old shelterbelt is thin and full of dead wood.

Why a Great Falls Crew Comes to Dutton

What Dutton Can Expect

Thirty-Nine Minutes North on I-15

The far end of our interstate run through Power, with no trip charge. Dutton estimates group with Power and Fairfield work.

Grain-Country Shelterbelts

Farmstead rows of caragana, Russian olive and Siberian elm are dying from the ends in. Ramon takes out the dead stretch with the skid steer and chips the brush on site.

Open Ground, Full Wind

Town trees here stand on open bench with nothing to break a chinook. Before spring we look for cracked leaders and lifted root plates and clear hazard wood over the house.

A Town With Its Own Office

Dutton is incorporated with its own ordinances, so a tree over a town street means a call to the town office, and we relay the answer. Teton County and the rural fire district handle burn permits.

City boulevard, burning and town-office rules: see our permits page.
